Discover the proven results that 11 million women and men have experienced. With real, noticeable results, no surgery and no recovery time, there are many reasons why BOTOX® Cosmetic has been chosen by millions of women and their doctors.
BOTOX® Cosmetic may be the one for you. You may feel that the moderate to severe glabellar lines between your brows make you look tired or unapproachable, or have other reasons for being curious about BOTOX® Cosmetic.
BOTOX® Cosmetic is an FDA-approved prescription medicine. It is most widely marketed for temporary improvement of frown lines in men and women aged 18 to 65. It's a natural, purified protein, which is injected into muscles in very low doses to relax the overactive muscles that cause formation of frown lines.
As we age, the repetitive movements of the facial muscles create lines or wrinkles. Over a period of years, these wrinkles become deeper and deeper. The great thing about BOTOX® is that within a matter of few days the wrinkles soften or disappear and we can appear 10 or more years younger.Doctors have been using Botox for years to successfully treat wrinkles and facial creases.
Botox blocks signals from the nerves to the muscles. The injected muscle can't contract. That makes the wrinkles relax and soften.
Botox is most often used on forehead lines, crow's feet (lines around the eye), and frown lines. Wrinkles caused by sun damage and gravity will not respond to Botox.
Botox treatment takes only a few minutes and doesn't require anesthesia. Botox is injected with a fine needle into specific muscles with only minor discomfort.
It generally takes three to ten days to take full effect, and it is best to avoid alcohol starting at least one week before the procedure. You should also stop taking aspirin and anti-inflammatory medications two weeks before treatment to reduce bruising.
Unlike surgery, BOTOX® is minimally invasive, with no down time or recovery period. It is a fast and simple procedure, which takes less than 30 minutes. BOTOX® procedure can be performed during lunchtime and you will be able to return to work or normal activity following the procedure.
The effects from Botox will generally last four to six months. As muscle action gradually returns, and the lines and wrinkles begin to reappear, a simple repeat procedure is all you need to maintain the desired results. The lines and wrinkles often appear less severe with time because the muscles are being trained to relax.
Side effects of Botox are minimal. You may experienceslightdiscomfort and redness at the site ofinjection. The redness usually resolves within 30 minutes.Temporary bruising could occur but is not common. Headaches, which end in 24 to 48 hours, can happen, but this is rare. 1-2% of patients develop a slight lowering or ptosis of one eyelid and, also rarely, a facial expressionthat is asymmetrical. Such effects are temporary and may not even be noticed by the patient. Drooping usually happens when the Botox moves around, so don't rub the treated area for 12 hours after injection or lie down for three to four hours.
People who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a neurological disease should not use Botox. Since Botox doesn't work for all wrinkles, you should have a consultation with the doctor prior to the procedure.
